The French royal family disappears without a trace. No one knows what might have happened to the king. Lord Destre takes the throne by force. The French, confused and uncertain, take to the streets. Protests against Destre’s coronation continue and the people demand an explanation.
People say terrifying sounds are heard near the palace every night. Urban legends claim that its vaults are the catacombs where the lost are being kept. Along with a group of protesters you decide to go there and see for yourselves. Will you manage to find out the truth?

This was a completely random room for us. We wanted to play a room in Warsaw and stumbled upon this one. We were incredibly surprised by this room! When we entered the courtyard outside of the building we were skeptical, even so after entering the right building. But the moment our host took us to the room we took in the well-detailed scenery. No spoilers, but some of the moments in this room are original, and I have never seen a puzzle made like this before. Afterwards we also played the Tutanchamons Tomb room at the other location, which was also very fun but is not on escapetalk.nl yet. As promised to the very kind hosts, a first review on escapetalk ;)

Catacombs
This is among the best of the many catacombs rooms I have done. There is a nice technical element in the middle that was really well done. The integration of the actor at the end isa. nice touch as well.

Escapetrip Polen mei 2023 – Kamer 5/43
De vorige kamer was toch wat ontgoochelend. Benieuwd of “Catacombs” ons meer zal kunnen bekoren. We worden geblinddoekt naar de kamer gebracht en geketend aan de muur. Wat is het hier een schril contrast met de vorige kamer. Deze eerste ruimte ademt alvast het verhaal van de catacomben. Een authentieke ruimte met gewelven, fantastische decoratie, perfect binnen het thema. Knap!
We worstelen ons vlotjes door de eerste puzzels en naarmate we meer ruimtes ontdekken, blijf ik toch wel onder de indruk van de manier waarop dit allemaal gemaakt is. De puzzels volgen mooi het thema en ook het verhaal wordt hierdoor al wat duidelijker. Na nog een aantal wauw momenten, komen we dan eindelijk in de finale ruimte terecht. Hier valt mijn mond helemaal open. Dit is echt héél knap vormgegeven. De puzzels worden ook hier vlotjes opgelost en voor we het weten hebben we de eindcode gekraakt. Wat volgt is dan nog een prachtige apotheose!
Jammer dat we hier een half uur vroeger uit geraken dan voorzien, want ik had hier gerust nog wat tijd kunnen doorbrengen…
Conclusie: Bangelijke kamer met niet al te moeilijke puzzels. Absolute aanrader!
