Once upon a time, there was a world where wizards and people lived together. With the help of an ancient magic wand, wizards helped people and made the world a more beautiful place to live. However, not all wizards were good, there were those who wanted to use magic to spread evil. At one point, the magic wand ended up with the dark wizard Balach, who cursed all of humanity to ruin. He hid the stick so that no one would ever find it, but after centuries of research, its chambers were finally discovered. It is believed that only the wisest and bravest will be able to find the magic wand and remove the curse from humanity.

Vandaag een rustige escapedag. We gaan op bezoek bij de grootste aanbieder van escape rooms in Belgrado: PIN Escape. Zij hebben hier maar liefst 17 kamers, verdeeld over 6 locaties. Vandaag bezoeken we locatie vijf en zes, waar we telkens twee kamers spelen. We starten met The Wizard’s Curse. Na een korte introductie krijgen we elk nog een mooie tovenaarshoed om op te zetten en kunnen we, geheel in het thema, de kamer in. Een eeuwenoude magische wereld, een duistere tovenaar en een verborgen staf waarmee een vloek over de mensheid opgeheven moet worden; het is eens wat anders.
De start is wel erg donker en we moeten proberen licht te vinden. Dat duurt toch wel even en na enkele minuten is er dan plots licht in de duisternis. Nu kunnen we écht van start. De setting is prima gethematiseerd en geeft je het gevoel dat je in een magische tovenaarswereld terecht bent gekomen. De hele kamer heeft geautomatiseerde puzzels en de flow is lekker. Wat ik sterk vind, is dat de puzzels hier écht goed aansluiten bij het verhaal. Heel moeilijk is het trouwens allemaal niet, want er is geen enkel moment waarop we echt vastlopen. Het is dan ook vooral jammer dat we na een kleine 34 minuten weer terug buiten staan. Iets te weinig uitdaging voor ervaren spelers…
