2023: The laboratory has been rebuilt. Will it now be possible to travel through time?
Time Travel! Who would have thought that a job in a mysterious laboratory would mean finding a way to travel through time! You decide to take this life-changing chance and together with your team you choose to open a portal in space and time. Allegedly this takes you to the past to Christopher Columbus times. What awaits on the other side?

Het is altijd lastig om in Oostenrijk Escape Rooms te vinden die het een beetje kunnen opnemen met de Nederlandse kamers. We hadden na het lezen van goede reviews de verwachting dat deze kamer een beetje in de buurt zou komen maar kwamen toch wat teleurgesteld weer naar buiten.
De aankleding is mooi - zeker beter dan de papier-maché aankleding van veel andere kamers in Oostenrijk - en er zitten wat leuke puzzels tussen maar al in al blijft het toch een redelijke standaardkamer. Er miste iets om de kamer echt immersive te maken. Verder hadden we puzzels die niet goed werkten. We hadden iets al op de juiste volgorde neergezet maar er gebeurde niets. 10 minuten verder deed ie het wel opeeens...
Zeker een van de leukere kamers in Wenen maar niet op Nederlands niveau.

Schitterende, originele en uitdagende kamer
Vandaag kwamen we om alle vier de kamers bij Open the Door te spelen. Een zeer sympathiek bedrijf met een zeer sympathieke eigenaar, Filip. Met hem hadden we al tevoren goed email-contact gehad. Hij dacht met ons mee over een planning, inclusief pause om wat te eten en tips waar dat in de omgeving te doen. Ook kregen we 10% korting, omdat we alle kamers zouden spelen. Al helemaal top dus, nog voor we überhaupt in Wenen gearriveerd waren.
The Treasure of Columbus is een werkelijk prachtige en moderne escape room, met een schitterend decor. Het verhaal is erg origineel en de verschillende dingen die je ziet en meemaakt zijn dat ook. Het verloop van de kamer is erg verrassend. De puzzels waren voor ons erg uitdagend. Met twee redelijk ervaren escapers, hadden we toch redelijk wat hints nodig. De hints waren helaas via portofoon, iets dat afbreuk doet aan de beleving en iets dat helaas terugkomt in vrijwel alle kamers bij Open the door. Ook hadden de hints soms wat cryptischer mogen zijn voor ons.
De escape room voelt aan als een geweldig avontuur. Zeker een aanrader.
