Tsjernobyl 1986. We zijn een team ingenieurs tijdens de nachtshift in de kerncentrale, vlak voor de historische ramp zich ontvouwt.
Als we binnenkomen valt één ding echt op: Ze hebben écht hun best gedaan om het geloofwaardig in te kleden: een Sovjetdecor, reactorinterfaces, oude communicatieapparatuur en industriële details zorgen ervoor dat je echt het gevoel krijgt in een nucleaire controlekamer te staan.
De puzzels spelen zich dan ook grotendeels op dit immense paneel met honderden knopjes en schakelaars. De puzzels liggen ons wel en blijkbaar vliegen we in recordtempo door de kamer. Dat komt omdat alles relatief goed beschreven staat in de manual die we als leidraad kunnen volgen. Maar dan stokt opeens de flow. Vanaf we de reactor zelf in kunnen, loopt er wel heel erg veel mis. Een bepaald toestel schijnt niet naar behoren te werken. Een puzzel met schakelaars die we tig keer opnieuw juist oplossen hapert en zo verandert de heerlijke flow van het eerste deel in een oefening in frustratiebeheersing in het vervolg. Daardoor verliezen we énorm veel tijd en mogen we blij zijn dat we nog net binnen het uur de reactor kunnen verlaten. Jammer dat het zo gelopen is, want deze kamer is echt wel goed als alles werkt.
