We worden teruggevoerd naar het feodale Japan in de twaalfde eeuw in het huis van een Kamakura-shogun. Zoals gewoonlijk zit het huis vol met Samurai die als bewakers fungeren. De daimyo zijn op bezoek en hebben niet alleen hun eigen Samurai gekocht, maar ook de gevreesde Ninja-spionnen. We weten dat binnen deze muren van fijn rijstpapier en geweven bamboematten de shogun een goed bewaakte schat bewaart... het Ashikaga Samurai-zwaard. Maar er is commotie geweest. De Geisha fluistert dat het gestolen is! Om het te vinden, moet je sluipend en snel bewegen en onderweg munten en penningen verzamelen. Je hebt maar een uur om alle aanwijzingen te doorzoeken. Falen betekent Sayounara zeggen met de scherpe kant van een katana. Ganbatte!

Te makkelijk

We hebben nog een vrij momentje vanavond en boeken daarom snel nog een last-minute kamer bij Exit The Room. Bij het plannen van onze escape trip was ik deze escaperoomaanbieder niet tegengekomen. Geen idee dus of het de moeite zal zijn. Benieuwd.

Na een korte introductie worden we naar de kamer gebracht. De ruimte is redelijk kaal, maar wellicht past dat wel in de Japanse cultuur. De decoratie die er hangt is alleszins duidelijk Japans.
We moeten hier, tussen het puzzelen door, dus ook munten verzamelen en die in een soort paal deponeren. De eerste muntjes worden al snel gespot en ook de puzzels zijn niet overdreven moeilijk, integendeel. Het puzzelen gaat zo vlot dat we enorm snel in de tweede ruimte terecht komen. Ook hier gaat het allemaal (veel te) vlot en staan we na een dikke 23 minuten plots weer buiten…

Conclusie: een kamer zoals er zovele anderen zijn. Als dan ook nog eens de puzzels te makkelijk zijn, is dat extra jammer. Misschien was er wel een reden dat ik deze in eerste instantie niet geboekt had…
